UGC chief M. Jagadesh Kumar said that CUET will be utilized by all 45 central Universities for UG admission. For PG admissions, universities can select to use CUET scores.
New Delhi: All central Universities will have to admit students to UG courses on the basis of the common university Entrance test (CUET) and not class 12 marks, The UGC said on Monday, this rule will come into force from the upcoming academic year (2022-2023).
UGC chairperson M. Jagadesh Kumar said it will be mandatory for the 45 central Universities to adopt CUET for admission to their UG courses. However, the PG admissions, universities will be having the flexibility to use CUET scores as of now.
For PhD courses, he said NET scores can be utilized by Universities. However, those varsities that do not have NET can decide to conduct their own entrance exam or hold interviews.
