In spite of objections from the Himachal Pradesh Government College Teacher’sAssociation, the executive council of Himachal Pradesh University Today has decided to make the entrance exam mandatory for all PhD seats includingsupernumerary seats. The Executive Council that meets the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor SP Bansal also approved the recommendations of the academic council to make the rules uniform based on the UGC guidelines. It expressed concern over the fall in the National Institutional Ranking Framework rank. The vice-chancellor said that a coordinator had been deputed for the NIRF. He apprised the members of the progress made for NAAC accreditation.
The executive council has decided to maintain the status quo in respect of all professors under transfer and accorded permission for starting all PG courses recommended by the academic council.
It is also decided thatstart one-year diploma courses in Chinese studies and permitted MPhil, LLM, MTech, and PhD students to submit their research work without a late fee by December 31st.
