Two research scholars from IIT have been severely punished by the IIT faculties for expressing their disapproval. For taking part in hungers strike, two PhD scholars named, Vikrant and Himachal had faced academic suspension for one semester. In the suspension letter to Vikrant, University states that those suspending students have insulted the institute’s reputation by social media posts and also they were sending offensive emails or letters to the institute and also to the student’s disciplinary committee.
Around 10 members have signed the 22 pages of termination letter. In this it was stated that, Vikrant suspended for a period of 4 months until July 27. The institute on March 10 gave removal letter, stating, “This is regards to the social media post dated October 29 and your indulgence in false impression related to the institute without verification and resulting in offense of the institute. No demand will be considered further.
